Jody Williams release new Single

2013 sees the return of former Idols South Africa Winner, Jody Williams, to the local music scene. Jody released her new single “Cosmic Coincidence” on 29 May 2013. The single was produced by Ashley Valentine and written by Williams’ older sister Candice. When asked in a recent radio interview what the song was about, Jody replied that it is about a guy from another planet, who only has 24 hours to spend time with her.

Jody has no plans to release a full length album at this stage, although she plans to release another single in the near future. She also plans a collaboration with 2009 SA’s Got Talent Runner-up and Hip Hop artist, George Avakian. The single is available for download on iTunes SA.

Jody won Idols in December 2007. Jody was only 17 years old when she won Idols. This makes her the youngest contestant to win the South African version of this show. Her debut album. “Just Gonna Be Me” went Gold, selling more the 20 000 copies and also contains the hit singles, “Love Is All Around”, “Wind It”, no1 on 5FM’s national Top 40 charts and “Kiss of Life”. The Album was nominated for two South African Music Award (SAMA), for Best Pop Album and Best New Artist.

Jody represented the continent of Africa on the song “Everyone”, the Official Theme Song of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. She collaborated with four other artists, Sean Kingston (USA), Tabitha Nauser (Asia), Steve Appleton (Europe) and Jessica Mauboy (Oceania).
